I didn't find any topics that were very interesting from my classmates. Most of their responses were pretty similar to mine. Zack had similar opinions on the way he would run his classroom and about the jeapordy game that we learned. For the most part, I think we were all pretty much on the same page.
The technology-related skill that I would like to learn next is how to work a smart board. My senior year in high school was the year that we finally received smart boards. Many of my teachers did not know how to use them. I would love to learn how to use them and the cool things that you could do with them. It seems like a really neat tool to help teach students and that is why I would want to learn how to use it.
The ways that I might achieve my future educational technology goals it to learn more about technology. I would take more technology classes so I could learn about the newest technology available. Thay way, I could present them to my students in ways that could enhance their learning.

Within the past two weeks, I have had the priviledge of learning about a new web based tool for teachers. This web based tool is teachertube.com. It is full of instructional videos as well as videos that teachers can use for themselves. I think it is a wonderful tool for teachers and students. There is information for all levels and subjects, which range from Elementary school to high school.
Teacher tube is very easy to acess. All you do is go to www.teachertube.com/. From there, you can do a search for any topic or subject that you might be interested in. You can also find the most recent videos and top rated videos. I would use this to help me with my lesson plans or for fun activities within the classroom.
As an elementary school teacher, I probally wont use excel as much as upper grade level teachers. I plan on being a first grade teacher, so I know that I will probaly use it to create a roster for my students. It would consist of their names, telephone numbers, adresses, and parents names. I might even use excel to keep track of their progress in certain areas, such as their behavior in class. I would make a big spread sheet and put stars next to their names.
For my final project in this course, me and my partner have decided to split up our tasks. I will be creating the budget for our school and she will be writing the two paged paper. We found that it will probally be easier that way. This project does take a little more thought and effort than I thought it would take. I plan to start on the budget fairly soon, so that we will be ready to present when that time comes around.

I think my PowerPoint 2 assignment is very good. I have proper grammar and the content is relevant to the topic. I followed the screen designs that were outlined by the teacher. My navigation was also pretty effective. There was a way to get back to the home page from every slide. Overall, I think students would enjoy my PowerPoint because it is colorful and easy to follow.
I might use non-computer audio-visual technologies as another way for my students to learn instead of just using books. There are so many ways to learn something these days, why not use the resources that are provided to us. I thinks students would really love audio-visual technologies. It gives them something to listen to and view besides the teacher standing in front of the classroom.
This past week I learned how to make a jeopardy game. This could help me out tremendously when I become a teacher. It is a fun and easy way to keep the students entertained, and I will not have to spend money for it. I am really glad I learned this skill because it increased my knowledge of the ways that I can use PowerPoint. I don't only have to use it for little notes. This is the more creative side to using PowerPoint.

I think that it is great idea to use presentation software in the K-12 classroom. It provides another element of learning for students. It can help them get excited about learning because of all the creative things a teacher can do with presentation software. On the other hand, if you rely on presentation software too much, it could become a problem when those things malfunction. Most presentation software require technology, which is not always reliable. So that would be the disadvantage of using presentation software.
I would use PowerPoint to support student learning by creating special games about the chapters that were just taught. Jeopardy would be a great game because I could incorporate several questions to quiz the students on what they learned. I could also create other nice PowerPoint's on different lessons to create notes for students. I could also use them as helpful hints to what they will be quizzed on.
There are not any issues that really bother me within education technology. The only issue that might be a problem is relying on technology too much. We all know that technology can't always be relied upon because if something happens, are plans will fail. That is why we always need a back up when dealing with technology. Especially as teachers, because we do not want our lesson plans to fall through just because we don't have the technology that we needed.

I think the use of Web 2.0 technologies in k-12 education is a great thing. We need new technologies to enhance the quality of education for our students. I would definitely use them becuase it can help children learn in other ways than just a text book. I would use certain visuals and websites to make learning fun for them.
I thin Wikipedia is a good starting to point to learn basic information about something. If you just want to know what something is or the meaning behind it, it's a great place to start. However, I would not cite it in a paper becuase it is not a reliable source. I would encourage students to look at other websites and to compare the information that they found there, with the information on Wikipedia. Overall, I do not have a problem with Wikipedia, but I don't see it as the best source of information to use.
I did not learn that many new skills, but I became more familiar with Power Point. I think the new version is really neat and has wonderful graphics. I learned how to make flow charts with it as well as how to insert pictures off the internet. I think Power Points will be useful in my career because it gives me an interesting way of providing information, instead of just writing on the board or handing out worksheets. I also think it will help the students pay attention more.

I think that it is perfectly fine to use the Internet to support student research. The internet has plenty of useful information that is easily accessed. It is usefule when the information comes from reliable sources, such as the government or educational sites. Sometimes it may not be as useful if it comes from .com websites and wikipedia. But overall, it is great for student research as long as they use it correctly.
If I find something on the internet that I think would be great for my students, I will definitely introduce it to them. It could be something as simple as a blogging website like this one. I could have them blog about different assignments or group projects. I could also introduce them to music websites and do an activity with them.
As a teacher, I realize that I will have to supervize students in a technology environment. I plan on being a first grade teacher, so it shouldn't be that hard. I doubt I will catch 7 year olds on many inappropiate websites. Middle school and high school students tend to have problems with visiting inappropiate websites. However, if my first grade student did visit an inappropiate website, then I would punish them and talk to their parents about it. I may even let the student visit the principals office.

As a teacher, I would use the concepts presented in Chapter 7 to present and teach information to my students. I would love to use the idea maps to explain information to my students about certain topics, such as history or English. To achieve my goals, I would use PowerPoint's or a software such as inspiration. I believe these technologies would work perfectly for the idea maps.
I would encourage my students to develop outline, idea map, and storyboarding skills. I think that it is important when it comes to everyday life as well in school. These skills teach you how to first plan, and then carry out that plan. Idea map skills can be very helpful when brainstorming and trying to figure out what to do with a certain topic. I wouldn't require my students to learn these skills because some may not need it, but I would highly encourage it.
Over the past week, I have learned some new skills that will be helpful to me in my teaching career. I learned how to use the inspiration software, which I had never heard of before. It is a really neat tool that can help me in the classroom. I like the fact that I can create diagrams for my students to learn from. It will be really helpful because I won't have to draw anything out on the board and have everything ready on the computer for class.

My lesson plan would be for the 1st grade level and the subject matter would be reading. As for the technology I would use the computer to help them learn words and sentences. The program would have sound, so they would wear earphones and watch words flash across the screen. Then they would have to put the words into a sentence. After that, the computer would read the sentence out loud.
The website that I am critiquing is Education.com. http://www.education.com/ It seems to be a great website. The color scheme is consistent and the words are easy to read. The pictures that are there serves a purpose and are necessary. However, the page is filled with ads. That can get annoying and very distracting. Overall though, the website is great and very easy to navigate through.
My experiences with copyright in the educational environment have been great. I learned all about it when I was in middle school. My teachers did a great job explaining everything to me and my peers. So now I know about not copyrighting things. As a teacher, I would just make sure I knew where I was getting my information from, and I would check with the appropriate people to use it. As far as my students, I would make them sight their sources so I could correct them on any mistakes they might have made. There should be few mistakes because I would show them before hand what they could and could not use.

A paragraph on how you’ve used MS Word as a student and how you’ve seen your teachers use MS Word.A paragraph on how you might choose to use them as a teacher.A paragraph on new skills you acquired in the class so far that you think will be especially useful to you in your educational career and why you think so.
As a student, I've useed MS Word to write papers and to make signs. That's basically all I ever used it for. Teachers use MS Word to create quizzes and test. They also use it to type up documents for themselves. I don't remember my teachers using MS for anything more than that. If they did, I never noticed.
As a teacher, I would use MS Word to create tests and quizzes. I would also use it for handouts or worksheets. The other thing I would use it for is to send nice letters home to parents. Maybe later on in this class, I will learn other creative ways to use it.
I have learned a couple of new things since I've been in this class. The merging letters task I just learned will be very useful in my educational career. It will help me create letters to send home to parents in a reasonable amount of time. I've also learned how to format a quiz correctly. This will be very important in my career because I will have to make quizzes all the time.

A paragraph about why you think computers are an important part of the educational experience and critical concerns related to how teachers and students use computers. Use Chapter 1 to find appropriate terminology and get you thinking. Do you agree or disagree with issues raised in Chapter 1? Why or why not?A paragraph on how you think you will use computers in your classroom. Use the textbook (Ch 1) to get ideas. What do you hope to learn in this class to help you achieve these goals?A paragraph on anything you would like to share/discuss with your classmates, especially if it applies to this course, technology in general, or your future career. Just have fun!
I believe that computers are an important part of the educational experience because they can enhance the learning environment in the classroom as well as provide ways for the teacher to provide more effective ways to teach. Computer literacy is very important these days, so it's good for students and teachers to learn how to use it in the classroom. I do agree with the issues raised in Chapter 1 because they are accurate in their references to teaching with computers.
I think I will use computers in the classroom to help children get more practice with the curriculum. I would also do fun activities and games that the students would enjoy. The last thing I would use computers for is for myself. I would probaly make spreadsheets and word documents to keep myself organized and on task. In this class, I hope to learn effective tools that will make my teaching easier. I want to learn games and programs that I could use for myself to stay an organized teacher.
I like using the computer because it kills time when I'm bored. However, I feel like I only go on two websites; Facebook and FSU. Sometimes I think back to when I was younger and I wonder what did I do on the computer. I'm pretty sure in this class I'll learn some neat things that I can take with me in my future career and just in general.

Introduction
Hello everyone. My name is Candice McKinnon and I am a first year Elementary Education major. I am from Wesley Chapel, Florida, which is right outside of Tampa. Some of my favorite things to do include reading, dancing, watching tv, and hanging out with friends. One of my most interesting experiences is probally moving a total of six times and going to several different schools. I really am interested in education. I believe it is very important in every child's life. That is why I chose this major and I'm ready to learn everything that I possibly can about this field. I look forward to learning that information and getting to know others in this class!
